Brooklyn Museum Thursdays @ 7 , September Evening Programs Feature Monthly Jazz Concerts

The Brooklyn Museum remains open every Thursday evening until 10 p.m., allowing visitors to linger later in the galleries and enjoy exciting evening programs, including interviews, performances, film, and eclectic, eye-opening tours. All events begin at 7p.m. unless otherwise noted, and ticketing info can be found on our website. September highlights include:

September 13th @ 7 p.m. – Renee Neufville of the platinum-selling duo Zhané performs. Born in Jamaica and raised in Brooklyn, Neufville has toured with artists including Maxwell, Robert Glasper, and Roy Hargrove. The monthly concert series BrooklyNites Jazz is presented in partnership with WBGO FM and hosted by Rob Crocker. See a schedule of upcoming concerts below.

September 20th @ 7 p.m. – Film: Reportero (Bernardo Ruiz, 2012, 60 min.) Documentary about a veteran reporter and his colleagues at an independent newsweekly in Tijuana, Mexico, one of the deadliest place on earth for reporters. Part of a series of pre-broadcast screenings of films by New York directors presented in partnership with the PBS documentary series POV and FilmWax. A Q&A with the director will follow.

September 27th @ 7p.m –Talk: Lucy R. Lippard in conversation with Robert Barry, Jennifer Bartlett, Luis Camnitzer, and Martha Wilson, artists featured in the exhibition Materializing “Six Years”

October 18, 7 p.m. – Tim Hagans Quartet

Grammy-nominated composer and trumpeter Tim Hagans and his quartet perform original music from their acclaimed album The Moon is Waiting.
