Felix Hernandez, his iconic Saturday radio show The Rhythm Revue, and his epic dance parties of the same name, are legendary in the classic soul and R&B scene. For decades he packed the mammoth dance floor at Roseland Ballroom with his unique blend of funk, classic soul, and disco; and at Brooklyn Bridge Park we’ll be counting on you for a mammoth Electric Slide when he hits the turntables. We’ll close the show with a thunderous live set by Sonny Knight & The Lakers, “one of the best and most powerful vocalists to emerge on the retro-soul scene.”(Allmusic.com) Everyone’s favorite NYC dance troupe, the W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew, will be on hand to warm up the dance floor and teach you some classic moves.

British soul singer Jamie Lidell takes vintage sounds and adds a layer of his own groovy experimental techno, and in the process upends the ways man and machine can make music together. His live shows are known for their explosions of joyous partying. Heating things up are DJs JDH & Dave P, the duo behind the FIXED parties who have turned crowds into dancing throngs everywhere from Coachella to Ibiza. Brooklyn United Marching Band, a community-based organization that serves New York City youth, will be the first to step out this night.

Grammy award-wining jazz musician Poncho Sanchez is one of the most influential band leaders, singers and conga players in Afro-Cuban jazz, and his live show is a blistering combination of Latin rhythms merged with bebop. Mambo madness in the Park! Legendary NYC radio veteran DJ Bobbito Garcia, aka Kool Bob Love will get the party started spinning everything from Latin, World, and Jazz. A free salsa lesson with Jose Rivera, one of the most dynamic salsa dance instructors in the world will rid you of your inner wallflower.
