Join us for a special “Throw Back, Throw-Down” Birthday celebration for CPR’s co-founder Sharon Gordon who has been a major contributor to the culture of Caribbean music and entertainment in the Tri State area for decades. She has worked tirelessly marketing and developing the music careers of artists who were newly being signed to major US record labels such as; “Buju Banton to Mercury/Loose Cannon”, “Capleton to Def Jam” and “Luciano to Island Records” “Beres Hammond – Elektra Records” that’s just a few. Sharon Gordon has also been instrumental in many levels, as publicist, journalist, event producer/promoter; music critic; and contributing writer for various publications such as; Dub Missive, VIBE Magazine, Caribbean Life, The Gleaner and much more.

Sharon Gordon lectured as an Adjunct Professor in the Black Studies Department at Baruch College (CUNY) her Alma Mater. Her class “Black Institution and Culture” was well sought out by students wanting to get a better understanding of the Black experience in America.

All the Proceeds from this event will go towards funding the important mission of CPR – Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music. The members of the organization believes that recording artist have a moral responsibility to society and CPR is dedicated in holding songwriters, record producers and performers to the highest standards and that they be mindful of the influence their lyrics have on children in our society. The tax deductible donation goes towards workshops, seminars and broadcasting educational programs on multiple platforms.

Live entertainment for this special event will be provided by the “CPR All Stars” and friends. Classics from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s for your dancing pleasure from DJs Hard Hittin’ Harry, Chris the Dubmaster and Rob Kenner who promise to not chop up or talk over your favorite songs as you dance the night away. Expect lots of Surprises and Prizes.
